The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande's 2024-2025 season promises to be a year of high-flying musical promise and outreach. While the heart of the OSR's activity takes place under the gilded halls of Victoria Hall, the orchestra is expected to perform at 360 degrees. The OSR is committed to offering its services to young, vulnerable and disadvantaged audiences, to operas and ballets at the Grand Théâtre, to programming at the Théâtre de Beaulieu, and to touring the length and breadth of French-speaking Switzerland, sometimes far away, to meet other musical realities and audiences. To publish records and recordings, to collaborate with other musical, cultural or social institutions, to innovate in the way it addresses its listeners (cf. the OSR in hologram). The specifications of a major symphonic ensemble active in 2024 have been enriched by a host of missions unthinkable even a generation or two ago.
Another centenarian institution, RTS, plays an active role in the OSR's activities. As part of its public service mission, RTS has a number of obligations that are defined in its concession. Among these, the support and promotion of culture and music occupies an explicit, central place. There's also a more affective, regional and historical dimension: it was Ernest Ansermet's initiative that forged the lasting link between the orchestra and its broadcaster. RTS is therefore tenaciously pursuing its companionship with the OSR: it offers it very regularly, on the Play RTS app and on RTS Espace 2, notably on Wednesdays in "Plein Jeu" (now at 7.30pm). It offers these excellent "in-house" recordings to the European Broadcasting Union, thus multiplying the orchestra's potential audience. Finally, through collaborations with other international public services, the OSR is sometimes filmed at Victoria Hall or the Grand Théâtre, and broadcast on other screens. Not forgetting that, through all these activities, we generate and maintain a substantial audiovisual memory.
In keeping with our century and its ongoing transformations, RTS aims to remain the privileged partner of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
A fine season of concerts, with the OSR and RTS.
