On November 6, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, conducted by Ana María Patiño-Osorio, will perform a concert in collaboration with the Pro Visu Foundation, which supports scientific research and various projects and institutions dedicated to helping the visually impaired.
On this occasion, the OSR will be performing Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez for guitar and orchestra, a piece by the composer who lost his sight at the age of three.
The OSR is committed to fostering inclusivity. For example, people with reduced mobility can attend evening concerts for free (subject to reservation and availability). Additionally, a series of podcasts has been created specifically for blind and visually impaired audiences to enhance their concert experience, including descriptions of the Victoria Hall venue and its unique features. In an interview published in Le Temps on October 12, 2024, Steve Roger, Director of the OSR, explained that the OSR is continuing "to explore the podcasting option, developing content delivered through bone-conduction headphones, which transmit sound to the inner ear without disrupting the live concert experience."
In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Pro Visu Foundation is partnering with the Association pour le Bien des Aveugles et Malvoyants (ABA) to raise public awareness about visual impairment and the everyday challenges faced by those affected
