The music

George Gershwin grew up at the turn of the last century in the working-class areas of New York, surrounded by a culture permeated by chanson, ragtime and blues. The version of Rhapsody in Blue performed by the OSR for the festival at Genève-Plage is the version traditionally performed by symphony orchestras, which was created a few years later than the 1924 Jazz version.
