The music

The brilliant Argentine pianist Martha Argerich and the Swiss conductor Charles Dutoit, who already performed at the Granada Festival in 2022, will meet again in the Andalusian city, this time accompanied by the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, which will be making its debut. Argerich will perform one of the most important concertos of the 19th-century repertoire with Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor. But Dutoit will first open the programme with one of the suites from Manuel de Falla's ballet El sombrero de tres picos, adapted for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes by the Cadiz-born composer from his pantomime El Corregidor y la Molinera, which premiered in London in 1919 and was one of his greatest successes. A few years earlier, in 1913 in Paris, Stravinsky turned the city upside down with his daring and exciting Rite of Spring, also written for Diaghilev.
