Sirba Orchestra!
A variety of traditional Russian, Bohemian and Yiddish music including favourites such as the Moskovskaia polka, Ya Vstrestil vas, Kalinka and Katiouchka.

The music

The Sirba Octet will appear together with a special guest artist, the Russian balalaikist Alexeï Birioukov, alongside the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Born in rural Russia, the Balalaïka later took its place in the palaces of the Tsars and reflects the Russian soul in all its splendid ardour and melancholy. Discover unmissable Russian melodies, combined with a rich mixture of traditional Romanian, Hungarian, Moldavian and gypsy music in this varied evening programme. An anthology of the most beautiful themes of gypsy cabaret and klezmer music!

This concert is based on the Sirba Orchestra! album, released by Deutsche Grammophon in 2018.
