With the best technical facilities in Switzerland, the Grand Théâtre stages opera, ballet and concerts. Since September 2019, its general director Aviel Cahn has been developing an artistic programme of excellence and innovation, inviting creators from other disciplines such as contemporary art and cinema.
The Grand Théâtre's management has strengthened its artistic collaboration with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, its privileged musical partner since its foundation in 1918. With six to eight major joint productions per season, the Grand Théâtre and the OSR have established a high-quality cultural dialogue that is both concrete and long-lasting. In this partnership, the OSR's identity and repertoire of excellence – particularly French music – are particularly highlighted and appreciated.
