Opened in 1879, the Grand Théâtre is Geneva's opera house.
Switzerland's leading stage in terms of technical capacity, the Grand Théâtre presents opera, ballet and concert productions. Since September 2019, its general manager Aviel Cahn has been developing an artistic line of excellence and avant-garde, inviting creators from other disciplines coming from contemporary art and cinema.
The new management has strengthened the artistic collaboration with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, a privileged musical partner since its foundation in 1918. With six to eight joint productions per season, the Grand Théâtre and the OSR are anchoring their high-quality cultural dialogue in concrete, long-term terms. In this partnership, the OSR's identity and repertoire of excellence - particularly French music - are particularly highlighted and appreciated.
