Who we are

The Association des Amis de l'OSR was founded in 1935, at a time when the young orchestra was struggling to survive in the face of serious financial difficulties. Its founder, Ernest Ansermet, spared no effort to secure the orchestra's future by pooling all available resources. Raising awareness among the widest possible public through an association of Friends was part of this effort.

Over the decades, the institution has not only been maintained, but also expanded. Today, it represents a family of some 2,500 music lovers who are resolutely committed to supporting it.

What are the aims of the Association?

TO SUPPORT THE OSR

Thanks to the generosity of its members, and in particular its patrons, the Friends of the OSR provide substantial support to the OSR and thus contribute to its reputation. With the creation of an instrumental fund, they will contribute over the next few years to improving the orchestra's sound quality by gradually providing it with high-quality string instruments, financed by membership fees and donations.

Beyond the financial aspect, the Friends of the OSR also express their gratitude and thanks to the musicians through their membership.

AROUSING AND MAINTAINING PUBLIC INTEREST IN THE OSR

By extending invitations to private rehearsals to members of various groups, by organizing numerous events and concerts, including the unmissable New Year's concert, and by organizing exclusive trips enabling patrons to accompany the OSR on its tours, the AOSR strengthen the attachment of music lovers to their symphony orchestra. Particular attention is paid to building awareness and loyalty among the younger generation, as a complement to the OSR's specific programs.

What does the Association offer?

Depending on the category chosen, the association offers its members a number of exclusive advantages: access to dress rehearsals for subscription concerts, pre-leasing for subscriptions or concert tickets, conferences, visits to emblematic musical venues, invitations to various events, etc. But above all, the association offers the OSR a wide range of benefits.

But above all, it offers listeners the satisfaction of actively supporting an orchestra that provides so many musical pleasures throughout the year.
