Another successful edition of the OSR's traditional Romandie tour. After 9 concerts in Neuchâtel, Delémont, Rolle, Saint-Maurice and Fribourg this tour have enabled 5,000 pupils aged 9 to 12 to discover classical music with the musicians of the OSR.
In charge of this 2023 edition, the Orchestra's assistant conductor, Ana María Patiño-Osorio, led the Orchestra on this tour with an audience quite different from the one she has been used to since she joined the OSR in 2022. The theme of the concerts she devised, "Musique et Mythologies", was inspired by the flute, an instrument that is very present in mythology, and which the Neuchâtel flutist Matthieu Grandola was able to bring to the attention of the little ears gathered in the audience.
Presented by Marie Ernst, head of the OSR's youth and mediation department, five works evoking mythology or representing a mythological hero were on the programme for these concerts: Chaconne, ballet music from the opera Idomeneo by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Overture to the Creatures of Prometheus by Ludwig van Beethoven, excerpts from Apollo Musaget by Igor Stravinsky, Odelette by Camille de Saint-Saëns and Tytire, the second movement from Les Joueurs de flûte, by Albert Roussel, arranged for the occasion by the Director for the strings.
As with every concert for school audiences, students and teachers were provided with a specially designed listening guide which they were able to study before and after the concerts. We hope they had a good time with us and we look forward to welcoming them back to share our passion for music with them.
Thank you to the teachers and students present for their enthusiasm and communicative energy!
We would like to thank the Loterie Romande for its generous support of the OSR's Romandie Tour.
