Born in Manosque, Olivier Morel obtained his diplomas at the conservatories of Paris, in the class of Michel Strauss, and Geneva, in the class of François Guye. He studied with Janos Starker, Arto Noras, Philippe Müller, Anner Bilsma, and Christophe Coin.

He plays in chamber music and solo at the Festival Musique en Périgord, the Rencontres Musicales de Haute-Provence and the Grenoble Museum.

He joined the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in 2002.
