General Director of the Opéra national de Bordeaux from 2016 to 2021, Marc Minkowski founded the Musiciens du Louvre in 1982, which he has been conducting ever since; he is also artistic advisor to the Kanazawa Orchestra (Japan). He began conducting at a very young age and played an active part in the Baroque revival before moving on to the repertoire of Mozart, Rossini, Offenbach and Wagner.
Regularly featured in Paris, he is also invited to perform on the great international stages, from San Francisco to Moscow, via Brussels and Salzburg, alongside the most prestigious orchestras. In recent years, he has collaborated with directors such as Laurent Pelly, Olivier Py and Dmitri Tcherniakov. Last season, he conducted Meyerbeer's Robert le diable in Bordeaux, Les Contes d'Hoffmann in Valence, the Da Ponte Trilogy in Barcelona and Bordeaux, and Platée in Paris; he also appeared on the stage of the Grand Théâtre, after conducting Les Huguenots in 2020, for the New Year's Concert 2021.
