Since his creative debut in 2002 with D'avant, with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui et al. at the Schaubühne in Berlin, the Franco-Belgian choreographer's career has been marked by his desire to bring dance together with the visual arts, film, art music, theatre and fashion, resulting in creations that are as prestigious as they are unusual. These include his Boléro, co-created with Cherkaoui and the visual artist Marina Abramović at the Opéra in 2013, his Gravity Fatigue, a collaboration in 2015 with the fashion designer Hussein Chalayan at Sadler's Wells in London, and the film-dance Mist in 2021 with NDT-1. He has worked with the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Pina Bausch Company, as well as film-maker Luca Guadagnino, songwriter Ryuichi Sakamoto and Madonna, visual artist Kohei Nawa, and film-makers Paul Thomas Anderson and Jacques Audiard. Damien Jalet was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2022. He is an associate artist of the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève.
