The Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne (EVL) was founded in 1961 by Michel Corboz who successfully conducted it for over fifty years. A professional vocal ensemble of excellence, the EVL competes with the best formations on the national and international scene while retaining strong roots in Switzerland. In artistic terms, it is a chamber choir of varying size, made up of professionals who work together with young artists in training, depending on the pieces. Its repertoire extends from the 16th to the 21st century, with an emphasis on French music, Swiss composers and original productions.

The Ensemble is currently conducted by Anthony Di Giantomasso and is headed by the high-flying duo of Pierre-Fabien Roubaty, music director of the EVL, and Daniel Reuss, principal guest conductor. In recent years, the EVL has sung under the world-renowned conductors such as, most notably, Raphaël Pichon, Leonardo Garcìa Alarcón, Jonathan Nott, Arie van Beek and Marc Kissóczy.

EVL’s reach stretches far beyond its borders with invitations from the international scene. It has participated in numerous prestigious festivals in the past ten years, such as La Folle Journée in Nantes, La Roque d’Anthéron, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, at the Chapelle Royale of Versailles and as part of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. The EVL also collaborates regularly with renowned Swiss and international orchestras.

EVL’s impressive discography gives it an international flair. It was awarded the Grand Prix du disque from the Académie Charles Cros for its recording of Monteverdi’s Vespers. Some thirty other albums have also won awards, including the three famous Requiems by Mozart (Choc du Monde de la Musique, 1999), Fauré (Choc de l’année 2007 du Monde de la Musique) and Gounod (Choc de Classica 2011). Its latest recording, Le Roi David by Arthur Honegger (version 1921) was released in 2017.
