Ross Knight is currently the Solo Tuba player with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Before this he was a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Ross has also performed as the guest principal tuba of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra Tonhalle Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, as well as playing as guest player with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. He was also the principal tuba of the European Union Youth Orchestra for three years and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester for two years.
As a soloist, Ross was the winner of the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Player of the Year, and also earned 2nd prize at the European Brass and Percussion Solo Championships in 2014. He has also performed as guest soloist with the BBC Concert Orchestra, Exeter Symphony Orchestra, Whitehall Orchestra, Grimethorpe Band and Brighouse and Rastrick Band, and has given several recitals across Britain.
He has also given masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Haute Ecole de Musique de Geneve and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon.
Ross was recently awarded an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music Award (ARAM). He is also a Yamaha artist.
